...a real update
Sep. 4th, 2005 10:20 pmEXCELLENT NEWS OF THE DAY: I MADE THE A CAPELLA GROUP, SOLE EXPRESSION, THAT I AUDITIONED FOR ON THURSDAY! I totally didn't make it last semester (and it was the first time I'd ever not made something I'd auditioned for!), so I'm pretty jazzed about this new development! The only thing that sucks a little is that the rehearsals conflict with about 50 of my other commitments, so I'm gonna have to do some fancy planning to make it work.
I'm sitting in the Dakin office right now, waiting for duty to be over at 11. I'm exhaaaaaaausted. Today was a long day. I met with Jeanine, et al, from 11 AM until 5:30-ish PM today for Maine Won't Discriminate stuff, and we got a pretty good-sized chunk of stuff done. Jeanine drafted the Volunteer Sign-Up sheet (*cough* UMFers, if you want to volunteer for the UMF MWD campaign, do feel free to take that bitch, print it, fill it out, and drop it off at the MWD table that will appear daily in the Student Center starting Tuesday) today, and I made it before duty this evening. I'm so pumped about this campaign -- fag-hating psychos, you're going down!
Oh my god, I'm going to be SO ridiculously busy this semester. I'm only taking two classes (Poetry and honors Style & Substance) 'cause I can't afford more, but I think they'll be what takes up the least amount of my time. My planner (yes, I have a planner) for September hardly has any empty space and it's only September 4th! But in any case, I'm excited to be back in the swing of things -- I thrive when I have every moment scheduled and I always have something to do.
The only thing that kind of sucks is that there are already four or five different instances this month alone where I'm supposed to be in two -- sometimes more, Jesus -- places at once, so that'll be fun to finagle. On Thursday, September 8th, for example, is the first Sole Expression rehearsal, and I already have stuff to do that day, so I need to figure that out. I also have to photograph a Visiting Writers series thing for work on the 15th, and the time conflicts directly with a Sole Expression rehearsal...so, I need to talk to the Sole Expression director guy.
