rainy summer days.

jamez with a dictionary on the freshly-painted living room floor and my cat being sneaky and weird.

freshest cat ever in a box she never leaves that is wedged behind my bookshelf.

really, that is not my idea of an ideal hangout spot.

yawn!

all my enchanted objects :) (bonus points if you can identify the quote source!)

silly shenanigans. this is probably exactly what you think it is, if you note the handshapes and set your mind to "dirty and juvenile."

oh, and some pictures i found the other day from when i was pretty f-f-f-femme:

I love the mirrors duct taped together. I was lucky enough to have a room in Stone with a full length mirror right outside my door for no apparent reason.

oh, the feeling of never quite belonging anywhere. even when it's by choice and even when most of the time it's a part of being a badass, sometimes it's hard.

Oooh nice house!
It's interesting seeing people as femmes [who are now more masculine]... I once definitely was quite femme too, but while people said i looked great, I never quite felt right.

P.S Aye to the spooning, hand holding etc. *sigh*

thanks! there's a lot of queer stuff and u.s. presidents in the areas you can see in these pictures :)

i feel like femme is a rite of passage for female-bodied genderqueer folks sometimes. did you take any parts of your femme with you to your current form of self? i still paint my toenails with polka dots!

and p.s. little spoon or big spoon?

Hmm, I still wear foundation? Haha.

By doing drag for my photoshoots sometimes, it helps me let my little femme self out every once a while! I've always said that really if anything, I am more of a femme boy than a masculine girl if i had to pick "a side" but thankfully I don't! *shakes fist*

I'm a switch, I can be the big or little spoon! But I think ultimately probably more of a little spoon, but always happy to be the big spoon! You?

hey, foundation is a gender-neutral product with multiple purposes, if you ask me :)

i am so grateful drag exists (when it's not in the spirit of mocking gender complexity) because of the reason you pointed out here -- how fully it lets us all explore our gender identities and toy with many gender expressions. i'm glad you have that outlet.

hehe, i never thought of being a spooning switch. i can big spoon, but i prefer the little spoon position. i am also a firm believer that your spooning (i almost just wrote "harpooning," which is .. such a different thing) preference can be reflective of your personality!

You have totally inspired a poll for me to post in my lj! Haha!

I've noticed though when I was more femme and stifling my masculine/genderqueer self, I was very big on being the little spoon, but the more I allow myself to explore who I am, the more I find myself liking to be able to be the big spoon sometimes and kinda like be the one who holds someone, while walking [ie: you know how one goes over the shoulder and the other one goes on the hip], and have people rest their heads on my chest etc. I used to not be so big about that sort of thing. Interesting... but ultimately it really all depends on who the person I am doing that with and what sort of balance we have going there.

yay, lj polls! will it be about spooning, perhaps?

good point about the intersection of traditionally-constructed (cisgender) femininity and the expectation of passivity. i was more of a big spoon when i was dyke-identified and i wonder if some of that was the butch part of my dyke identity -- but now that i'm getting more comfortable in my masculinity, i tend much more toward little spoondom. so, like you said: it's as much about individual identity as it is the dynamic between the individual(s) doin' the spooning.

have people rest their heads on my chest etc -- ahh! the nook. i feel like i will always dig people with their heads in my nook (pardon the silly syntax and the image of 14 people with their heads in an armpit).

as another spooning switch, i wanna get in on this conversation!

do you guys think big spoon/little spoon corresponds to your preference as a top/bottom?

i don't think it was until i started getting more comfortable in my masculinity that i wanted to be a big spoon more often... in terms of identity.

i also love when i'm lying on my back with my arm around the person and they have their head and one arm on my chest.

::jumps in too:: i think there might be a correlation!

personally i like to switch up the spooning, mostly based on my mood at the moment.
i'm also a total switch in bed too. hmmmmmm.
